North Korea In Pictures
I’ve had a bit of a fascination with the closed state of North Korea for some time now. I’m intrigued by the mechanics of keeping an entire nation of people on their knees and in the pitch dark. It’s a sorrowful and tragic tale of how man can be so very cruel in order to maintain his own personal security. It’s also a story of how humanity can deal with any problem it is faced with when it has no choice or chance of reprieve.
North Korea teaches us lessons about the merits of democracy and the dangers of greed. It reminds us that without a clear and open media, total power is never far away. The Kim dynasty still has the country by the throat, some predict it will slowly wane and disappear, others aren’t so hopeful.
Reading about a country is one thing, and getting a feel for it through images is another, currently access is tricky and limited so photos will have to do. I’ve just collated a host of pictures taken in North Korea and I’m dumping them here without further commentary. I find them fascinating and I hope you do too.
