In 2011/12 Joseph Anderson from Saskatoon (Saskatchewan, Canada) produced a series of water colours of men with beards. His subjects were people he already knew and some other randoms that he cajoled into posing:
The painting below is called Man With White Beard and it’s by Jacopo Robusti, otherwise known as Tintoretto and Il Furioso (1570-1578). That’s a lot of pseudonyms. Tintoretto was a big player in the Renaissance period apparently:
