Firstly: thank you, Russia for your constant stream of military surprises. You never disappoint. I genuinely appreciate it.
Today’s military surprise comes in the form of a 60 metre long, 500+ tonne military hovercraft. It recently landed on a busy beach on the Baltic coast. Apparently, no one was injured, which is pretty amazing when you watch the footage.
The spokesperson for the Russian Defense Ministry informed the Russian newspaper – Komsomolskaya Pravda – that the hovercraft was on a tactical mission in an area owned by the military. He also said:
“What people were doing at the beach on the territory of a military (base) is unclear.”
However, the newspaper comments that the actual designated military area is a few kilometres further up the beach. So it seems, in reality, that the military probably messed up and missed their mark.
It certainly makes for an arresting scene though. Apparently, after the landing, loads of paratroopers got out and moved everyone on. Brilliant.
